Last trip out of the country this year

Went of to Venice with Karen, Tobin and Claire to shoot a bit of fashion around the canals.

last bit of the American Road Trip

Collected Katy_T from her home in Phoenix and set off for California, we arrived at Palm Springs about midnight although it was actually only 11.00 p.m. there ( daylight saving stuff )

We decided that daybreak was around 6.15 a.m. so set the alarm clocks and got some shut eye.

We were off by 6.30 without the sun being over the horizon yet and in place ready to start shooting with the first light, wow it is so clear in the desert it is soooooo difficult to control but we worked at it and did some good stuff.

wooo hoo I made it, there could be no stopping me now.

Latest Arizona adventure

Well, we set off on Thursday afternoon for Chaco Canyon in New Mexico, arrived at Gallup for an overnight stay at 11.30 p.m. ! ...in snow.!

Set off at 7.00 a.m. and the snow became steadily deeper ( bit of an exaggeration that ! ) and we had a hairy moment or two until getting off the main road onto a 20 mile long unmade road to the Canyon !!

We met up with out guides, Navajo archeologists, and had a great day exploring the Canyon ( which incidentally had NO snow ) and learning some interesting "Navajo" stories, most of which are remarkably like our stories like The Tortoise and the Hare. !!!

We "camped" out Saturday night !! it was 18 degrees F ( it was only the second night of my life spent under canvas and will almost certainly be the last !)

I have now thawed out and had a change of schedule, off to Monument Valley today (Monday) then Canyon de Chelly Tuesday / Wednesday before heading back to Phoenix to pick up my Model for Thursday !

Weather forecast from Arizona

The guy on the radio said the weather was quite pleasant in Phoenix today, very little cloud, quite warm, all in all a very nice day.

Then he said it'll be much the same tomorrow !....Oooooo.Kaaaaaay.

HOWEVER, Wednesday it'll take a turn for the worse, there will be some cloud! and the temperature will " struggle to better 79 degrees, it will be quite cool " and he didn't mean cool in a good way, he meant its time to get the overcoats out fellas yer gonna freeze yer nuts off !!!

WTF 79 degrees F is COLD !?

Revisited Route 66 today, it is a great lonely experience which I savoured because it is such a pleasure to be able to drive on a road without traffic ! You do tend to forget just how great it is.

I had nearly forgotten tho' how tacky everything is ! Its great if you like Blackpool tackyness

Well as I now have two followers I'd better say something... Ya Booooooo....will that do? Today I was kernackered so have had a steady driving day up to Holbrook then on tomorrow to re-do Route 66 or as someone here has it on their ad, Root 66 which begs the question, if they know how to pronounce it why do they insist on saying its Rowt 66 ?

Well here I am in Arizona on the first leg of my adventure in 2009, 23rd October.

I am planning on re-visiting Route 66 ( or whats left of it ) if time allows but I'm off to New Mexico to Chaco Canyon next week

Then back to Phoenix to pick up Katy_T and then off to exciting destinations to shoot !
